The troubled, terrorist-infested United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) is preparing to close its doors after a half-century of fomenting violence rather than economic development and peace in Israel and Israeli-administered territory. The decision was not made because of some sudden wave of guilt and shame sweeping the agency after the savagery of the October 7, 2023, attacks launched on Israeli civilians but because of new Israeli laws; see Israel to UNRWA: Get Out. The laws, passed on October 28, 2024, forbid UNRWA to operate within Israel and, more importantly, forbid any Israeli official from communicating with UNRWA. //
Even though UNRWA resolutely denied all evidence of its complicity in the October 7 attacks and how its funding had been used to turn Gaza into a warren of terrorist tunnels (UNRWA Spokesman Gives Insane CNN Interview Amidst Hostage Scandal), there was a moment of high irony when Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar was killed on October 17. Both of his bodyguards were UNRWA employees; see WILD: Incredible Footage Shows Hamas Leader Yahya Sinwar Up-Close and Personal Just Before His Death.

In an impassioned speech before the UN General Assembly on September 27, 2024, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spelled out to the world that Israel is done with international efforts to placate or excuse Hamas and Hezbollah. He declared there would be no peace until the terrorist organizations dedicated to the mass murder of Jews and the eradication of Israel are themselves eradicated.
Netanyahu started his speech by stating he originally had zero interest in attending the UN meeting this year, but felt compelled to do so in order to combat the lies of those claiming Israel was unjustifiably aggressive in combating terror. //
Netanyahu stated to those gathered that Iran was and is a threat to not only Israel but the civilized world as a whole.
And that is the choice we face today: the curse of Iran’s unremitting aggression or the blessing of a historic reconciliation between Arab and Jew. In the days that followed that speech, the blessing I spoke of came into sharper focus.
Netanyahu reminded the UN that before the Hamas-committed obscene atrocities of October 7, 2023, the Middle East was close to enjoying genuine peace as it has ever been since Israel’s formation in 1948. //
I have a message for the tyrants of Tehran: If you strike us, we will strike you. There is no place—there is no place in Iran—that the long arm of Israel cannot reach. And that’s true of the entire Middle East. //
This is the map I presented here last year. It’s a map of a blessing.
It shows Israel and its Arab partners forming a land bridge connecting Asia and Europe. Between the Indian Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea, across this bridge, we will lay rail lines, energy pipelines, and fiber optic cables, and this will serve the betterment of 2 billion people.
He next displayed a map of the present reality. It’s a map of a curse. It’s a map of an arc of terror that Iran has created and imposed from the Indian Ocean to the Mediterranean. Iran’s malignant arc has shut down international waterways.
It cuts off trade, it destroys nations from within, and inflicts misery on millions. On the one hand, a bright blessing—a future of hope. On the other hand, a dark future of despair. And if you think this dark map is only a curse for Israel, then you should think again.
Because Iran’s aggression, if it’s not checked, will endanger every single country in the Middle East, and many, many countries in the rest of the world, because Iran seeks to impose its radicalism well beyond the Middle East.
That’s why it funds terror networks on five continents. That’s why it builds ballistic missiles for nuclear warheads to threaten the entire world. For too long, the world has appeased Iran. It turned a blind eye to its internal repression. It turned a blind eye to its external aggression. Well, that appeasement must end. And that appeasement must end now. //
And now I have a question, and I pose that question to you: What choice will you make? Will your nation stand with Israel? Will you stand with democracy and peace? Or will you stand with Iran, a brutal dictatorship that subjugates its own people and exports terrorism across the globe //
I have a message for you: Israel will win this battle. We will win this battle because we don’t have a choice.
After generations in which our people were slaughtered, remorselessly butchered, and no one raised a finger in our defense, we now have a state. We now have a brave army, an army of incomparable courage, and we are defending ourselves.
As the book of Samuel says in the Bible:
“נֵ֣צַח יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל לֹ֥א יְשַׁקֵּ֖ר”
“The eternity of Israel will not falter”.
In the Jewish people’s epic journey from antiquity, in our odyssey through the tempest and upheavals of modern times, that ancient promise has always been kept and it will hold true for all time.
To borrow a great poet’s phrase: Israel will not go gently into that good night. We will never need to rage against the dying of the light because the torch of Israel will forever shine bright.
To the people of Israel and to the soldiers of Israel, I say: Be strong and of good courage.
“חִזְק֣וּ וְאִמְצ֔וּ אַל־תִּֽירְא֥וּ וְאַל־תַּעַרְצ֖וּ מִפְּנֵיהֶ֑ם כִּ֣י ה’ אֱלֹקיךָ ה֚וּא הַהֹלֵ֣ךְ עִמָּ֔ךְ לֹ֥א יַרְפְּךָ֖ וְלֹ֥א יַעַזְבֶֽךּ”
עם ישראל חי
The people of Israel live now, tomorrow, forever”.
The entire proceeding is a farce. South Africa, through a highly distorted set of accusations, doesn’t seek to prevent genocide, it seeks to enable genocide against Jews by preventing Israel from defending itself. //
Here is Israel’s entire presentation today:
The substance of the ruling is not specific, but generally demands Israel live up to its obligations under the genocide convention. It did not “order” an immediate ceasefire. It’s a toothless order, but will be used against Israel despite it not being a finding that Israel committed genocide. //
If anyone thought the “International Court of Justice” a function of the U.N. General Assembly would give Israel a fair hearing on South Africa’s fraudulent charge of genocide, you don’t understant the U.N. at all. //
The only bright spot was the statement at the end that the ICJ expresses concerns for the hostages and calls for their immediate and unconditional release. //

Right after ICJ released its ruling on South Africa’s genocide case against Israel, Hamas fires a barrage of rockets towards communities in southern Israel-including those struck by the terror group on Oct.7. Coincidence?

The International Criminal Court (ICC) is one of those organizations that sounds good on paper, but you quickly find out that in the real world, it's another bureaucratic tool that could easily be used for political prosecution.
Lo and behold, it issued a warrant for Benjamin Netanyahu for war crimes committed in Gaza for war crimes committed against the citizens of Gaza, which fall under the Palestinian Authority, a group that gives the ICC authority to prosecute. //
For one, the ICC is a purely bureaucratic entity with no real oversight. What's to stop it from utilizing its "legal authority" to issue warrants against people for their own political interests? How do we know this warrant against Netanyahu isn't one already?
The Netanyahu warrant already shows that the ICC doesn't seem to understand the nature of war, especially when that war is being fought against a terrorist organization that uses its own people as human shields. Of course, citizens have died...Hamas saw to it. Moreover, it's not like Israel can just choose not to wage this war. Hamas made it clear that the complete destruction of Israel and the death of the Jewish people is its highest priority. Israel is forced to wage this war. //
The ICC should be something that no country ever agrees to recognize because, in the end, the ICC is a direct attack on the sovereignty of a country. If the ICC says a citizen of a country needs to be arrested then the country will have no choice but to give up their own citizen to the ICC, even if the country in question doesn't recognize that their citizen has done anything wrong. //
Because we all know how authority works. A little ceding here, a little authority there, and soon the authority in question is far more powerful than anyone ever intended it to be.
UN Finally Realizes Hamas Isn't a Reliable Source, Reduces Gaza Death Numbers by... a Lot – RedState
The UN just made an embarrassing adjustment to their estimated number of deaths in Gaza. They just halved the number of women and children previously estimated to have been killed. //

In Ukraine, the UN has a defined methodology using individual records of civilian harm, requiring a reasonable grounds standard of proof. As a result, the UN states that the actual death toll is likely higher, because their count is careful & cautious. /4 https://ohchr.org/sites/default/files/2024-02/two-year-update-protection-civilians-impact-hostilities-civilians-24.pdf

Yet when Israel can be blamed, it’s the complete opposite. For Gaza there is no method or standard of proof. The UN simply parrots Hamas numbers, the source laundered by the UN as “Gaza Ministry of Health” or “Government Media Office.” In fact, both are run by terrorist Hamas. /5

UN halves estimates of women and children killed in Gaza

You would think they would be happy that the number of women and children estimated to have been killed had fallen. But instead, they were mad that people who pointed out the numbers were being questioned. It doesn't help their narrative. //

The number may well be half again and
closer to 5000 noncombatants killed according to Mark Levin and his sources. Trouble is, the UN has helped stoke anger around the world and in the US with non suspecting college students (not the paid agitators) and the naive population who keep calling the necessary IDF military operation "genocide". The UN for the most part has been useless, but they have turned out to be the propaganda arm of dangerous Islamists, Marxists, anti Israeli and anti American interests. The UN should be dismantled. //

It's not the Fog of War that has lead to wildly inflated numbers. It's the Fog of Propaganda.
Shortly after South Africa made its complaint to the ICJ, Pennsylvania's John Fetterman offered his take on the issue.
Who are they really fighting? In a group of cowards, they hide in tunnels. They hide behind civilians. They attack, kill, and mutilate children and women, and they do that...Stop talking about proportion on that. They shot their best shot on October 7. And they would've taken more lives if they could have, but they couldn't do it. And now, also let's talk about that. Now we're talking about genocide. And now South Africa, now, is bringing that kind of...to trial. Maybe South Africa, maybe you ought to sit this one out when you're talking about criticizing anybody. Sit it out. //

Why does the UN even think the Geneva convention s apply? AFAIK the convention was and is an agreement between nations. Members are not bound to the conventions when they are in conflict with a non signatory or a party that has blatantly ignored the conventions. Hamas has never been a signatory and Oct 7 would have been a blatant violation.
The United States vetoed a United Nations resolution Friday that demanded an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza. The U.S. was the lone dissenter, with 13 countries on the Security Council voting for the measure and the United Kingdom abstaining. France and Japan were among those voting in favor.
Deputy U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Robert Wood told the council that the resolution was “divorced from reality”:
“We still cannot comprehend why the resolution’s authors declined to include language condemning Hamas’ horrific terrorist attack on Israel on October 7,” Wood said, explaining that other recommended provisions raised by the U.S. were ignored. //

At the UN Security Council, US Deputy Ambassador to the United Nations Robert Wood:
“We do not support calls for an immediate ceasefire. This would only plant seeds for the next war. Because Hamas has no desire to see a durable peace…to see a two-state solution.”

The situation in Gaza is indeed tragic, and civilians are getting killed in the battle. But the U.N. Security Council and the myriad groups calling for a ceasefire keep leaving out one thing: Hamas could negotiate one in five minutes.
Let out the hostages, lay down your arms, and stop attacking Israel, and you won't get invaded by the IDF. The U.N. would gain more credibility if they brought up a resolution demanding that.
