AMichigan Court of Claims judge ruled Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson’s guidance on absentee ballot signature verification violated the state’s constitution and ordered it removed in a final order signed on Tuesday.
In the ruling, Judge Christopher P. Yates, an appointee of Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, reiterated that Benson’s “’initial presumption’ of validity in signature verification of absentee-ballot applications and envelopes mandated by the December 2023 guidance manual issued by defendants is incompatible with the Constitution and laws of the State of Michigan.”
While police went door to door hunting down those who participated in the anti-migration riots, including those who simply said things online, those committing violent acts as part of the "Muslim Defense League" were left to operate freely. As of this writing, no reports of arrests have come out, and the violence is ongoing. Some videos showed police backing away as shouts of "Allahu Akbar" rang out.
Starmer couldn't find a microphone fast enough to rant about the "far-right," but he has yet to say a word about the Muslim attacks that are ongoing. The chances are that he never will. //
Nuances of this latest situation aside, what this clash of cultures shows is that the UK is no longer a place of equal justice. It's not a place where normal people can speak against the government and expect fair treatment. If you're a Brit on the wrong side of the political spectrum, you will be hunted down in your home for saying something as innocuous as speaking against migration online. If you're an Islamist shouting "Allahu Akbar" while beating people in the streets, you'll be excused and coddled. You may even be showered with taxpayer money. //

Tribalism is the default organizing principle of humanity. Guilt is a fleeting emotion.
The West's, especially America's, experiment with melting-pot multiculturalism is a rare phenomenon in human history. Once we abandoned the ideal of colorblindness and started allowing certain disaffected tribes to assert their tribal identity, it was only a matter of time before the majority tribe's guilt faded, and they began to assert their identity.
If you are under 30 in the West, from the time you were old enough to understand what was happening around you, you have seen tribes assert their tribal identity. Whether it was race riots, Black History Month in school, or the girl in the hijab at your high school, you have watched other groups assert their identity and use it to acquire power.
This is our future.
. How does the court feel about potential changes — term limits, ethics codes that are enforced by someone in ways that it isn't now?
GORSUCH: Shannon, you're not going to be surprised that I'm not going to get into what is now a political issue during a presidential election year. I don't think that would be helpful.
I have one thought to add: It is that the independent judiciary means — what does it mean to you as an American? It means that when you're unpopular, you can get a fair hearing under the law and under the Constitution. If you're in the majority, you don't need judges and juries to hear you and protect your rights — you're popular.
It's there for the moments when the spotlight's on you, when the government's coming after you. And don't you want a ferociously independent judge and a jury of your peers to make those decisions? Isn't that your right as an American? And so, I just say, "Be careful."
Nice silver lining, I do hope the contractor received his just rewards for that.

Re: Rather different
My brother was an F-16 and B-1 engine mechanic back in the day. His shop had a large, perfectly smooth and level titanium table used for alignment and calibration. It also had a raised border guard all around it.
Flash back to the 60s and 70s, when as kids we had a game called Battling Top (https://nostalgiacentral.com/pop-culture/toys-games/battling-tops/). Great fun, we played it often.
Flash forward to my brother's shop. Yep. He introduced his fellow mechanics to the game, only this time played on a titanium surface by people with metal-shop equipment at their disposal. Lunch and break times saw fierce competition. All manner of designs evolved -- one top carried, via bearings, a non spinning frame with arms that would drop magnets when the top was jostled, hoping to destabilize competitors (nice idea but it didn't win).
IT angle: one day someone brought in a platter assembly from a disk pack. For the youngsters here, these were several metal platters about a foot in diameter, stacked several inches (or higher) on a heavy metal spindle. This particular assembly had a spindle that, at bottom, came down to a precisely machined cone with a sharp point. Quite literally, this thing was made to spin.
The guy spun it up with an air compressor.
Seconds later, everyone in the shop dove for cover as the other tops began making contact -- and ricocheting off equipment on the way to embedding themselves in the walls.
No one dared touch the assembly until it stopped spinning on its own. The point on the spindle was now nicely rounded.
They declared the fellow the Ultimate and Eternal Lord of Battling Tops and never played again.

But if we're going to be accurate, when Kamala Harris went into the United States Senate, it was AP that said she was the first Indian American United States senator. It was actually played up a lot when she came into the Senate. Now she's running nationally. Obviously, the campaign has shifted. They're talking much more about - about her father's heritage and her black identity.
It doesn't really matter. The president mentioned it. What he also talks about far more frequently is the fact that Kamala Harris is the person who created this massive inflation which is destroying black families, white families, Hispanic families. It's her failure as border czar that has left our southern border wide open. More than 10 million illegal immigrants coming into our country. Record fentanyl coming into our country which has killed more Americans than at any other point in the history of our country with respect specifically to fentanyl.
As a tangential, secondary attack, it is obviously hurting enough that the Democrats are trying to shut that conversation down.
REPORTER: Is Kamala going to make you a little more likely or less likely to vote Democrat?
BLACK MAN ONE: Well, hold on, Greg, hold on, Greg, is Kamala black? Yes or no.
BLACK MAN TWO: I'm gonna allow her to speak on that, but to me, no.
BLACK MAN ONE: Oh...(turns to man sitting next to him), is Kamala black, yes or no?
BLACK MAN THREE: I share that same view.
BLACK MAN ONE: Wow...(turns to other man sitting next to him) is Kamala black? Yes or no.
BLACK MAN FOUR: I heard she wasn't. I heard she's half-black and half-Asian.

US Vice President Kamala Harris hailed the latest jobs report and praised ‘Bidenomics’ at an event in Washington, D.C. https://reut.rs/47wSDr1

The Federal Reserve has raised interest rates in a constant effort to combat inflation. Typically, when you start raising interest rates at that pace, it leads to a recession. I say "typically" because it hasn't happened yet, and many economists assumed the Fed had pulled off the soft landing. However, the sudden contraction in the jobs market has brought those worries back to the fore, and people are panicking.
If the Biden-Harris administration was taking credit for the economy a year ago, then it should be made to take credit for it now. In truth, Biden's policies did create the sharp rise in inflation that we as consumers are still dealing with. In truth, that rise in inflation led the Fed to start hiking rates, which forced the economy to begin to contract. In truth, this has led us to where we are today.
Election Watch has compiled thousands of examples of a recent pattern that consists of elderly women making tens of thousands of donations of varying amounts to Democratic candidates and progressive activist groups.
The problem is, a donor who is listed as having made 25,000 donations of varying amounts needed, assuming three minutes per donation, would have to do nothing but make contributions 24/7, for 52 days. No bathroom breaks, no meals, no sleep.
Nobody in their right mind would do that, of course, but consider the odds of how long it would take a 75 year-old woman to make 25,000 individual donations. Extend the time for each donation from three minutes to five minutes and the total of days required working 24/7 goes up to 87.
And we haven't even mentioned the additional fact that the contribution totals for legions of the donations compiled by Election Watch are substantial. The first entry for Virginia, for example, totals nearly $840,000. //
Here's a theory: Somebody (China? Russia?) is providing millions of dollars to big groups of individuals being paid to submit donations of varying amounts using names of elderly folks gleaned from old FEC records via Act Blue and/or other contribution conduits. Do the candidates or causes know this is being done? That's one of the key questions to be answered. //

I assume it’s called “smurfing” because it only happens for blue (i.e., D) candidates?
It is amazing (though paradoxically not surprising) that the media industry behaves as though we cannot discern their full in-the-tank position with Kamala Harris. They have spent the past two weeks literally rewriting her history on multiple political positions, selling these bald-faced lies as if her record is something that would defy basic research.
