The U.S. House of Representatives Energy and Commerce Committee (E&C) has revealed that the Chinese government not only knew of the COVID-19 virus weeks before admitting its existence, but that Chinese researchers had already sequenced the virus's genome. The genome, of course, not only yields clues as to the origins of the virus but may also show genetic relationships to known viruses.
The genetic work was done in the late fall/early winter of 2019, two weeks before the Chinese government admitted the existence of the virus. //
Everything around the COVID outbreak, it seems, has been a tissue of whoppers from not only the Chinese Communist Party but from the United States government, and all over a virus that is less lethal than the 1918 flu that killed an estimated 25 million, or the Black Death, which likewise killed an estimated 25 million. //

MILEI: Today, I'm here to tell you that the Western world is in danger. It is in danger because those who are supposed to defend the values of the West are co-opted by a vision of the world that inevitably leads to socialism and thereby to poverty. Unfortunately, in recent decades, motivated by some well-meaning individuals willing to help others, and others motivated by the wish to belong to a privileged class, the main leaders of the Western world have abandoned the model of freedom for different versions of what we call collectivism. We're here to tell you that collectivist experiments are never the solution to the problems that inflict the citizens of the world. Rather, they are the root cause. Do believe me, no one is in a better place than us, Argentines, to testify to these two points. //
The crowd at the WEF doesn't want to hear that, though, and Milei's urgings will certainly be dismissed. Still, it's important they are made. It's important people stand up to the onslaught that is coming from Klaus Schwab and company. If they have their way, freedom and upward mobility will no longer exist. People will simply become cogs in their machines as they continue to live the good life. Want proof? The big-wigs at the WEF are currently pushing the idea of a so-called "disease X" that will kill 20x more people than COVID-19. What's their solution? More control because that's always their solution.
There is no greater existential threat to freedom than the leadership class represented at the WEF. Terrorists aren't going to fundamentally change your way of life, but powerful heads of state all singing from the same sheet of socialist, anti-freedom music can and will. Milei is a much-welcomed voice in the fight against that. //

Not on the public agenda at the WEF are secret, backroom meetings with the sole focus to make sure Milei is a 1-term president, and that Trump does not win - or if he wins he is immediately neutered.
The Israeli military now believes there are far more tunnels under Gaza.
In December, the network was assessed to be an estimated 250 miles. Senior Israeli defense officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss intelligence matters, are currently estimating the network is between 350 and 450 miles — extraordinary figures for a territory that at its longest point is only 25 miles. Two of the officials also assessed there are close to 5,700 separate shafts leading down to the tunnels. //
According to the report, every single civilian and humanitarian facility in Gaza, such as schools, hospitals, and mosques, doubles as an opening for Hamas terror tunnel shafts: //

How is it no one in the media is asking how much better off Palestinians lives COULD have been had Hamas invested those tens of billions of dollars in foreign aid in improving the lives of the people that are under their care instead of investing all that money in trying to kill Jews. //

Even worse is that if Pales had made peace they could have prospered riding Israel’s coattails. And if they had not had so many children solely to outnumber Jews, their children could have prospered. This is in my opinion the most damning thing about Pales.
Decision of Seventh Circuit U.S. Court of Appels said Indiana must allow transgender students to use school bathroom consistent with their gender identity – ACLU calls it a “victory” for transgender rights. //
These three points are each important:
First, the Seventh Circuit Order, as Bloomberg points out, merely affirmed a preliminary injunction saying that it was “likely” that the student would win her case. Now the case goes back to the Indiana federal trial-level court for further litigation and trial. The school district could still win that case, at trial or on appeal of the trial results.
Second, the Seventh Circuit’s ruling is inherently weak because it relied on Bostock. In that case, as Bloomberg correctly points out, the Supreme court held for the first time that Title VII employment discrimination claims could be brought by transgender employees. But what Bloomberg omits to say is that Bostock expressly held that its ruling did not apply to any other transgender situation. //
So to the extent the Seventh Circuit relied on Bostock, it was mistaken to do so.
Third, Bloomberg points out that in a similar case in Virginia where the Fourth Circuit backed the transgender student, the Supreme Court also declined to review the case, making this the second time the Court has declined to review such a case.
But there is hope!
That is because there is a definite conflict, or “circuit split,” in how different U.S. Courts of Appeals handle this type of case. //
the Court may be sensing the tremendous turmoil across the country regarding the rights of “transgender” students, both in the bathroom context but more importantly in the school sports context, and the Court may well be waiting for an appropriate time and case to grant review and weigh in on these critical issues. //

Reading further I see that this is a rejection of having a hearing on the temporary order rather than a court decision.
To say there is a deep and insidious problem within our journalism industry is no longer conspiratorial talk. The examples of this pathology are mounting and becoming more widespread. A rational mind would think that, at some point, the news outlets would recognize their own problems and begin to take measures to address the credibility wounds, but instead, they only appear to be dumping sodium where they bleed as they sharpen more blades. //

Then, the main disqualifier was that Mexico initially alerted US authorities one hour after the bodies were recovered.
This is journalism malpractice of the highest (lowest) order, and it directly mirrors the unacceptable charges seen with the Israeli reports that were completely compromised. //
This is simply disturbing to behold from the press. When you are looking at a story that essentially maintains that a governor’s actions led to the deaths of a family, would it not be of importance to get the details correct before rushing forward? We can see clearly that the framing was in place and eclipsed the desire to get the facts collected; the story was just too perfect for the narrative, so why let accuracy interfere with the plan?!
Keep in mind: These are the same journalists and outlets decrying misinformation and lecturing on the threats of false news circulating. Yet, just as we saw with the Israeli incidents, there is no hesitation from them when accusing political opponents of murderous activity. That kind of ethical malpractice is acceptable, as we see from the lack of any accountability.
Vivek then listed some truths that were a battle cry:
"There are two genders...Fossil fuels are a requirement for human prosperity -- drill, frack, burn coal, embrace nuclear energy. Reverse racism is racism. An open border is not a border. Parents determine the education of their children. The nuclear family is the greatest form of governance known to mankind. Capitalism lifts us up from poverty. There are three branches of government in the United States, not four. And the U.S. Constitution is the strongest and greatest guarantor of freedom in human history."
Vivek said that is the truth that still gives hope to the free world.
"If we can revive that dream over group identity, victimhood, and grievance, then nobody in the world — not a nation, not a corporation, not a virus, not China, is going to defeat us," Vivek said. "That is what American exceptionalism is all about." //

If Republicans try to wait for a better deal after November's election, senators say, they could end up with GOP control over Congress and the White House — but Democrats who are in no mood to deal on the issue.
And?
If the Republicans end up with GOP control over Congress and the White House, they would only need to enforce existing law. Build the wall. Forcibly stop newcomers from entering unlawfully. Begin mass deportations to remove those who are already here.
Any deal that normalizes the current status quo must be a non-starter. The system is not broken; those who are responsible for enforcing its legal processes are simply not doing their jobs.
Here's What FBI Agents Found When They Removed Hunter Biden's Gun From the Evidence Vault – RedState
It turns out that while preparing for Hunter's July court appearance FBI investigators decided to take photographs of the handgun Hunter's then-girlfriend ditched in a dumpster in Delaware back in 2018, and which was seized by Delaware State Police at that time and placed into evidence. Meaning, the firearm and its storage pouch have been in a sealed evidence bag, in a Delaware State Police vault, since October 2018. When FBI investigators opened the evidence, they found a "white powdery substance," had it tested, and, surprise, surprise, it was cocaine.
They allege Capitol CCTV footage blows up the story told by a member of Nancy Pelosi's security detail -- Special Agent David Lazarus. Lazarus gave testimony corroborating another Capitol police officer's account, claiming that he had an antagonistic encounter with the Oath Keepers. But The Blaze report says what Lazarus claimed couldn't possibly be true.
Steve Baker, the investigative reporter on the story, walks through the timeline of events and alleges that Lazarus was elsewhere at the time of the purported incident, not at the site of the incident when it purportedly happened. They point out other conflicts in the testimony as well as to who saw what when.
This is truly wild and very disturbing. //
If you can't get equal justice under the law, where does that leave our Constitutional Republic? And as Baker also notes, if this is true, then what else are they not telling the truth about? //

Who made the decision to withhold exculpatory videos from J6 defendants and their attorneys knowing this decision violated their right to a fair trial? Jacob Chansley (the Shaman) was immediately released from prison after Tucker Carlson aired the video of him peacefully walking into the Capitol and being escorted around the building by police officers. The video, which was not made available to Mr. Chansley and his attorneys, contradicted the government's allegations that he encouraged violent protesters to force their way into the Capitol and assault police officers in the process. In fact, Mr. Chansley entered the building alone and interacted only with police officers while inside. There is nothing in the video, which government prosecutors saw prior to filing the indictment against him, that supports the allegations in the indictment other than the allegations that he attended the January 6th protest and entered the building. Based on video evidence now available to the public, prosecutors made allegations against members of the Oath Keepers knowing that their witness lied about the interaction between them and Officer Harry Dunn.
White House claim: “On Friday night, a woman and two children drowned near Eagle Pass, and Texas officials blocked U.S. Border Patrol from attempting to provide emergency assistance.”
DOJ filing: The migrants had already drowned at 8pm, and Border Patrol didn’t inform Texas until an hour later at 9pm.
This, like the horseback patrol “whipping” claims - took off as a false narrative, generating headlines that claimed Texas blocked a federal rescue effort, leading to the drownings of three migrants. The DOJ now confirms, those migrants had been deceased for an hour before Texas was even alerted about it. //

She's just so terrible.
Any Republican at this point should have already figured out the kinds of gotcha questions they're going to be asked and have a ready reply. It's not that complicated--there a limited number of topics that are used in this strategy: race, abortion, gender, illegal immigration, the 2020 election... how hard is it to redirect the racism questions with something like Bongino said: "The U.S. is not a racist country, but we have to acknowledge history and the Democrat-party-created Jim Crow laws." Or "I believe that every child who is conceived is a human being with inalienable rights, including the right to life, but I don't believe in criminalizing miscarriages." Or "Women are equal participants in our society, with a greater percentage of college degrees earned than men and with wages that, when adjusted for things like time in their career, are equal to men's wages." Or "The United States should welcome legal immigrants, but a nation of laws must enforce it borders and prevent the human trafficking and drug smuggling that is creating a crisis." Or "There were election irregularities in the 2020 election, including judicial modifications to election rules. Elections in the United States should be fair and free of interference from U.S. intelligence agencies and leftist judges."
Seriously, if I can type that up in two minutes, why can't Hailey figure it out in two years?

The United States did not have slavery for centuries. Slavery was abolished in the 1860's, the United States was founded in either 1776 or 1787, depending on whether you date from the Declaration of Independence, or from the ratification of the US Constitution. The United States had slavery for about 80 years. The northern states had abolished slavery by about 1820, so only for about 45 years did they have slavery.
Racist attitudes were common in both the northern and the southern states, but Jim Crow laws were in effect in Southern states, and not the entire United States.
Time to complete the trilogy of reclaiming the DEI acronym from the left. A conservative view defines the D as discipline and the E as example. But what of the I? //
This is why the contemporary left struggles with Dr. King’s ideals. The contemporary left cannot admit to shared humanity or brotherhood, for to achieve these things means abandoning the notion of smug superiority that permeates its entire operational structure. It cannot embrace a notion of shared humanity and the universal need for salvation, for it believes itself to be superior to all who do not wholly embrace its views and the implementation of same as humanity’s sole hope.
The contemporary left is incapable of seeing beyond skin color. Even as it marinates itself in the outward trappings of white guilt and fragility, its actions and attitudes declare its belief in its superiority to minorities who are but helpless victims in need of white liberals’ guiding hand and generous doling out of taxpayer dollars to get through life.
Modern liberalism makes no demand on anyone for personal accountability, for it accepts none as it is utterly convinced it is in no need of same due to its gleaming perfection. It has blinded itself to its fundamental paradox of believing humanity, or at least its conservative and moderate portions, is beyond redemption. At the same time, it itself, individually and collectively, has no need of same. Modern liberalism believes that with proper embracing of groupthink and policy, every person can become a little god. Their god is false and far too small. //
There can only be advancement once an individual acknowledges his or her need for improvement and stops making excuses or seeking alibis instead of achievement. The DEI of diversity, equity, and inclusion is mythology designed to line the pockets of those who preach self-righteous babble. True DEI — discipline, example, and integrity — will never be popular, for it demands these things from oneself instead of begging for an undeserved handout. But it is the only definition of DEI worth anything.

Extreme weather expected to be top logistics disruptor for supply chains in 2024

After the lies we were told in 2020 and 2021, I've become a skeptic/cynic whenever the government warns me about something.
In theory, the supply chain disruption in 2020 and 2021 was caused by COVID. But was it? The disruption was caused by the government's regulatory response to a crisis they created and amplified. //
In short, I see this as the leading edge of a gaslighting campaign to increase government control over our lives, and that will peak in time for Joe Biden to blame a major disruption of US supply chains that they see coming on anything but his policies. //

The Amazon Kindle has lost its edge in the past few years. Instead of innovating, they issue minor incremental updates through an unnecessary amount of generations, which are currently at 11. They have a tremendous lack of features that are missing at an inherent level, like expandable storage or even speakers. Amazon disregards trying new things like colour e-paper, offering different speed modes, or even physical buttons. If you weigh the Kindle line against any other device in the respective screen sizes class, there’s virtually no reason to purchase Kindle e-readers anymore. ///
