Harmeet Dhillon Goes Off on Pro-Life Activists Over Their Efforts to Suppress Votes for Trump – RedState

How much income will the national pro-life spokesmen lose now that the abortion issue has been returned to the States, where it should have been all along? //

No, Trump is engaged in an optimization battle on abortion, aiming to minimize harm as much as possible. He doesn’t want to fight an absolute battle, where force is used to impose beliefs, even at the point of a gun. Absolutism may feel morally righteous, but because voters won’t resort to extreme measures, Trump loses, and this ultimately leads to more abortions. Under the current administration, pro-life protesters are being jailed for standing outside abortion clinics.

Choosing the path of optimization may tarnish one’s moral purity, but it saves more lives. If Trump wins, he could pardon these protesters, allowing them to continue advocating for life at the very place where it is most threatened. It’s a difficult and imperfect choice.

God gave us free will, allowing us to choose between good and evil. He could have created a world where abortions never happen, but He didn’t. Without God’s omnipotence and in the presence of free will, I believe the only way to stop abortion would be through force. However, since God chose not to use force and instead wants us to navigate these moral challenges ourselves (with the understanding that He will judge us in the afterlife), I cannot justify imposing my will on others by force. I can guide them toward the truth, but I cannot save their souls for them.

Trump’s approach—optimizing to reduce harm—keeps the difficult conversations alive, increasing the chances that more people will choose life. //

It's also lazy. They want a quick Federal solution so they can bypass the ugly work of fighting the good fight.

There is a real Constitutional question here and they don't care, they want a quick authoritarian fix and are too dense to realize the next Democrat White House could just do the opposite if they set the precedent. //

The all or nothing approach is more likely to achieve nothing than to gain all. Incrementalism on the part of courts and Democrats is what evolved Roe vs. Wade from Safe, Rare, and Legal to Anytime, Anywhere, for any Reason, at Taxpayer Expense. Incrementalism on the part of conservatives, as well as increasing the availability of prenatal and early postnatal care to struggling mothers, is a more powerful approach. Since the battle is now at statehouse, our warriors need to fight there. //

yes pro-life people are upset. and yes this is a huge political mistake for Trump/Vance. It’s a big problem and it was an unnecessary error.

Most of the people who are pushing this narrative were never going to vote for Trump. The Holy Spirit will lead the rest.

Dear @LilaGraceRose and @conservmillen
The messaging hasn’t been great- but remember God didn’t clear out the Promised Land for the Israelites instantly- it was little by little- (Ex 23:20) Trump is the best on abortion-please help him win this election and we will keep fighting

Is Telegram really an encrypted messaging app? – A Few Thoughts on Cryptographic Engineering
thumbnail

This blog is reserved for more serious things, and ordinarily I wouldn’t spend time on questions like the above. But much as I’d like to spend my time writing about exciting topics, sometimes the world requires a bit of what Brad Delong calls “Intellectual Garbage Pickup,” namely: correcting wrong, or mostly-wrong ideas that spread unchecked across the Internet.

This post is inspired by the recent and concerning news that Telegram’s CEO Pavel Durov has been arrested by French authorities for its failure to sufficiently moderate content. While I don’t know the details, the use of criminal charges to coerce social media companies is a pretty worrying escalation, and I hope there’s more to the story.

But this arrest is not what I want to talk about today.

What I do want to talk about is one specific detail of the reporting. Specifically: the fact that nearly every news report about the arrest refers to Telegram as an “encrypted messaging app.”

This phrasing drives me nuts because in a very limited technical sense it’s not wrong. Yet in every sense that matters, it fundamentally misrepresents what Telegram is and how it works in practice. And this misrepresentation is bad for both journalists and particularly for Telegram’s users, many of whom could be badly hurt as a result.

One would have thought that twenty years of deployments and combat would have produced a noncommissioned officer corps as hard as nails. It didn't. The post-Abbey Gate Army noncommissioned officer corps seems more like the one that came out of Vietnam than the one that went into Iraq. Should Trump win, he has his work cut out for him, purging the officer corps of that trash and detritus that gamed its way to the top. He must find a merciless and bloody-minded SOB to do the Army NCO corps what Sherman did to Georgia.

"Zero for one, Jamal? Jamal, my brother and colleague, zero for – He literally ran a man who'd been in politics for 52 years out of his chosen profession over a debate. I mean, look, I understand what you're arguing that you all traded in for a better candidate, but Trump won the debate. [Laughter] He is not zero for one. Are you saying he actually did so well, that he did badly?"

Infinite for Loops

You can also use this format of for loop to create an infinite loop. All you need do is remove all of the elements from the loop header, like this. This is "infinite.sh."

#!/bin/bash
for (( ; ; ))
do
 echo "Press Ctrl+C to stop..."
 sleep 1
done

You'll need to hit Ctrl+C to stop the loop.

Climate Phenomenon ‘Atlantic Niña’ is on the Verge of Developing

Whatever the reason for the development of the Atlantic Niña this year, there is no climate emergency. //

Part of the Atlantic is cooling at record speed and nobody knows why
8:18 AM · Aug 23, 2024

It turns out the headline is not entirely…accurate. The temperature drop is part of a climate phenomenon known as the Atlantic Nodal Mode. The pattern is like the Pacific Ocean’s El Niño/La Niña cycles but more localized.

The natural climate pattern swings between cold and warm phases every few years. Sea surface temperatures (SST) in the eastern equatorial Atlantic have a somewhat surprising seasonal cycle. The warmest waters of the year occur in spring, while the coolest waters occur during the summer. //

Perhaps the most significant aspect of the developing Atlantic Niña is its potential impact on hurricane seasons. As hurricanes strengthen in warm waters and weaken in cool ones, this could be good news for Legal Insurrection fans along the Gulf Coast and Atlantic seaboard.

Robby Starbuck Is Dismantling Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion One Corporation at a Time – RedState
thumbnail

Big news: I messaged @Lowes executives last week to let them know that I planned to expose their woke policies. This morning I woke up to an email where they preemptively made big changes.

Here are the changes:

• Ending participation in the @HRC’s woke Corporate Equality Index social credit system.

• No more donations to pride events or other divisive events.

• Ending ERG groups in favor of one large unifying ERG group for all employees, no longer designed to focus on race or sexual orientation.

They also hint at more future changes. We’re now forcing multi-billion dollar organizations to change their policies without even posting just from fear they have of being the next company that we expose.

We are winning and one by one we WILL bring sanity back to corporate America.

So far you’ve helped me change corporate policy at Tractor Supply, John Deere, Harley Davidson, Polaris, Indian Motorcycle and now Lowe’s. We are a force to be reckoned with. //

That is the beauty of all this. Employees and probably some C-suite junior executives are tracking down Starbuck to let him know about the underhanded inner workings of their companies when it comes to DEI implementation. They reflect the spirit of the age. Hardworking Americans are tired and fed up with having to jump through these DEI hoops while their hard work and company loyalty are ignored or disregarded.
