They now have millions of fact checkers that can spotlight any falsehood or narrative almost instantaneously. They are continually being caught in pants-on-fire lies, and it erodes their credibility ever further. Thus, even more people dig in deeper on their half-truths and outright lies. It is snowballing so quickly that they are being replaced as the arbiters of truth in real time.
