1,790. Skepticism; Truth
"Hume, and other sceptical innovators, are vain men, and will gratify themselves at any expence. Truth will not afford sufficient food to their vanity; so they have betaken themselves to errour. Truth, Sir, is a cow that will yield such people no more milk, and so they are gone to milk the bull."
Boswell: Life of Johnson
The running slope is to be uniform along a run, although slight variations may occur with certain materials such as concrete. No other changes in level other than the running slope (1:12 maximum) and cross slope (1:48 maximum) are permitted. //
Ramp runs must have a clear width of 36″ minimum (measured between handrails where provided). //
The height of runs is limited (30″ maximum), but there is no limit on the number of runs a ramp may have. //
Intermediate landings between runs must be at least 60″ wide clear and 60″ long clear where ramps change direction (any change from linear). Handrails, edge protection, vertical posts and other elements cannot obstruct or overlap the minimum 60″ by 60″ clearance. //
Handrails are required on both sides of ramps with a rise greater than 6″.
Handrail height of 34-38" consistent along length, 20-28" in play areas. //
Edge protection along ramp runs and landings keep wheelchair casters and crutch tips on the surface and can be provided by curbs, barriers, or extended surfaces.
- Curbs if used must be at least 4″ high.
- Rails or other barriers must prevent passage of a 4″ diameter sphere.
- Vertical pickets used for edge protection must prevent passage of a 4″ diameter sphere.
- Run and landing surfaces that extend at least 12″ beyond the inside face of handrails will provide adequate edge protection by preventing wheelchair casters and crutch tips from slipping off the edge.

Absolutely pathetic. Hamas is currently holding six American citizens hostage and Biden is saying he wants to pressure Israel. And that Israel should give the Hamas/PA/Islamic Jihad government a state.

There is no doubt that our criminal justice system is far from perfect. As someone whose name escapes me once put it, "It's not a system, and it has nothing to do with justice, but it is criminal." That said, sometimes the reason people draw long prison sentences for a very good reason that has nothing to do with systemic racism or bad lawyers.
We want to believe in rehabilitation and redemption, but we also have to realize that the patterns of behavior and personality traits that send a man to prison for several decades are rarely made better by incarceration. We should be surprised that a man who drew a 50-year sentence for violent crimes killed someone in the same way that we would be shocked that a poisonous snake bit someone. //
How much risk are we willing to inflict upon society so we can feel good about ourselves?

'They" want an excuse to declare martial law, cancel the elections and implement 'their own' government. biden has THREATENED the citizens of the USA more than once now... Even going so far as suggesting "they" have F16's. I have no doubt biden would love to use our military against those 'who are not with' "with THEM", but oppose them. All one need do is look at the overreach with the J6 folks! "They" like poking the bear, stirring the so called sh*tpot. But we know what "they" are after and we simply will not give it to them.
Justin Levitt may be gone from the White House, but the incentives remain for the left to cry voter suppression while undermining democracy. //
In my 25 years working to improve confidence in our elections, one thing has never changed: Democrats will falsely charge Republicans with suppressing the vote. This is because election chaos and false allegations of voter suppression have no downside for Democrats and will be rewarded. There is no better example than Levitt, the former top adviser to President Biden on voting. //
If the left cared about election administration or campaign finance law, they never would have hired the lawyer who oversaw what the FEC found were record-breaking exploitation of elections. But his upward rise in the left’s anti-democracy movement continued until he was eventually rewarded with the ultimate voting job — advising the president of the United States.

The State of the Union address was not for the Union. Sure, it's always a political speech, but it's usually focused on bringing the country together behind the president. But last not, that speech wasn't for you and me, people who are conservative or even slightly right of center. It wasn't for independents, either. Last night's speech was to every Democrat in the room, every member of the media watching, and every Democrat at home. He took an hour to say what really could have distilled to this:
"I'm running. Me. Not Michelle. Not Gavin. Me. And you're all gonna back me, starting right now."
The old man yelled at his own party. He refused to name Trump, but he referenced him. He never once spoke about working with Republicans, only demanding they join him and abandon "the former president," as he referred to him. But the message last night was Joe Biden stomping out any talk of insurgency within his own party.
The Russian propaganda outlet RT.com released a transcript Friday of senior German military officers discussing the deployment of the German Taurus stealth cruise missile to Ukraine.
Luftwaffe commander Ingo Gerhartz led the 38-minute call that took place on February 19 involved. Other participants were the German Air Force Head of the Operations and Training Section, Frank Graefe, a Luftwaffe Space Command Air Operations Center staff member, Stefan Fenske, and another staff from the center identified only by the surname Frostedte. The call was intercepted because General Gaefe, who was attending the biennial Singapore Airshow (sounds a lot like "hiking the Appalachian Trail"), participated in the discussion using an unsecured hotel telephone line. //
Divulging sensitive operational details in a call recorded by the SVR has caused a lot of problems for Scholz and Germany.
Germany's lack of seriousness in manning its armed forces and now in the way that it handles highly classified details is showing more and more EU nations that it can't look to Germany for competent leadership. The call, which apparently revealed Scholz's thinking on the subject of the Taurus missile that he hadn't shared with allies, foreign or domestic, has given his already flaccid credibility a body blow. This has caused France's Emanuel Macron to make a stab at wresting the leadership of the EU and European NATO from Germany. The tenor of the leaked conversation was one of lukewarm enthusiasm for assisting Ukraine with a strong shot of defeatism.
The long-term impact of the leaked conversation remains unclear. While it's unlikely to lead to an immediate shift in German policy, it has undoubtedly raised the stakes in the ongoing debate about military aid to Ukraine. The damage to diplomatic trust is very real, and the increased pressure from allies creates a complex situation for Scholz. Scholz's approval rate is roughly half that of Joe Biden (17%), and his coalition allies see self-preservation in jumping ship. However, Germany's constitution virtually guarantees that Scholz's government will continue to move zombie-like for the next two years when Germany's power and influence are sorely needed.
What is crystal clear is that this intelligence coup by the SVR has had a significant impact in dividing the pro-Ukraine coalition.

Specifically, Conspirator A tasked Schultz with gathering information related to a variety of U.S. military weapons systems, including classified information, and information related to the United States’ potential plans in the event that Taiwan came under military attack. //
This arrest extends a disturbing pattern of relatively junior military personnel with access to classified information being successfully recruited by Communist China as spies. //
There is a problem somewhere. If we've busted four guys with security clearances selling low-grade information to the Chinese in six months, you can bet there are a lot more like them still operating. The counterintelligence for the motives for espionage is MICE: Money, Ideology, Coercion, and Ego. One can't help but wonder if an educational system that focuses on the evil America has done and is doing isn't producing an army of potential traitors at government expense.

What a lot of people don't grasp is that freedom while great, isn't all sunshine and rainbows. Freedom also has a lot of really terrifying aspects to it too. Freedom includes the freedom to fail, the freedom to be poor, the freedom to die from our own mistakes, and the freedom to die from our own stupidity, our own incompetence, our own cowardice, and our own laziness.
It's much more comfortable for many people to abdicate responsibility for their own life and that of their family, to someone else or an entity like a government, than to feel the weight of that responsiblity on their own shoulders. This is why you see people begging to be disarmed and the desire to offer themselves up to be a slave, a child under the protection of Daddy, or Mommy, or the government. //

Sounds like this may explain the large number of password reset requests I'm suddenly getting...
My sisters instagram account was taken over before, interesting strategy they use.
Basically they start chit chatting with you about your posts to look friendly, then they message you saying that someone is trying to hack their account and send you pics of the reset text that instagram sends out and ask if you received anything similar.
In the background they try to reset your account and then you receive the text from instagram to recover it, then you obviously tell them yes i'm receiving the same texts, they ask for a screenshot of it to compare with their own which has a link to recover the account. Then they simply type in the link, make a new password and have access to the account.
My sister didn't have 2fa on because she used some other app to see who follows/unfollows her and it didn't work with 2fa, she eventually got her account back and learned her lesson... i hope lol
Six different ground cinnamon products sold at retailers including Save A Lot, Dollar Tree, and Family Dollar contain elevated levels of lead and should be recalled and thrown away immediately, the US Food and Drug Administration announced Wednesday. //
The announcement comes amid a nationwide outbreak of lead poisoning in young children linked to cinnamon applesauce pouches contaminated with lead and chromium. In that case, it's believed that a spice grinder in Ecuador intentionally added extreme levels of lead chromate to cinnamon imported from Sri Lanka, likely to improve its weight and/or appearance. Food manufacturer Austrofoods then added the heavily contaminated cinnamon, without any testing, to cinnamon applesauce pouches marketed to toddlers and young children across the US. In the latest update, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has identified 468 cases of lead poisoning that have been linked to the cinnamon applesauce pouches. //
The FDA makes note that the elevated lead levels found in the six products announced this week are significantly lower than what was seen in the cinnamon added to the applesauce pouches. The six products contained lead at levels ranging from 2.03 to 3.4 parts per million (ppm), while samples of the cinnamon added to the applesauce had levels ranging from 2,270 ppm to 5,110 ppm in the cinnamon.
The FDA has previously reported that 2.5 ppm is the limit being considered for bark spices, which includes cinnamon, by the international standard-setting body, Codex Alimentarius Commission.
So the six newly identified products are right around or just over that potential threshold and do not pose the same level of risk as the applesauce pouches. But the FDA warned that the elevated levels in the ground cinnamon could cause elevated blood lead levels after prolonged use, which the agency defined as months to years.
Buying cobalt doesn't make US firms liable for abuses in DR Congo, court rules. //
Apple and other major tech companies don't have to compensate victims of forced child labor that provided cobalt for the lithium-ion batteries used in many electronic devices, a US appeals court ruled. The lawsuit filed by former miners from the Democratic Republic of the Congo alleged that Apple, Alphabet, Dell, Microsoft, and Tesla violated a trafficking law that makes it illegal to participate in a "venture" that engages in forced labor.
"The plaintiffs allege the technology companies participated in a venture with their cobalt suppliers by purchasing the metal through the global supply chain," the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit noted in its ruling issued yesterday.
A US District Court previously dismissed the lawsuit, and a panel of three appeals court judges unanimously affirmed the dismissal yesterday. "Purchasing an unspecified amount of cobalt through the global supply chain is not 'participation in a venture' within the meaning of the TVPRA [Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008]," the ruling said. "We therefore affirm the district court's dismissal of the complaint." //
The plaintiffs' argument was a little more nuanced that, arguing not that buying cobalt in and of itself is the problem, but that these tech firms are demanding so much cobalt and at such cutthroat prices that they're inducing the mining companies into employing children to meet demand and margins because that's the only way they can satisfy the demand at the prices paid.
Legally it's still probably the "correct" outcome, but morally it's pretty hard not to find some fault with these incredibly profitable tech companies pretty knowingly using their market muscle to drive these sorts of atrocities. They could do better if they wanted to.
Democrats have stated that abortion will be on the 2024 ballot, and this manufactured IVF controversy is one of the many wedges being used to ensure this. How do we know this? Because ASRM, while praising the Alabama legislation, once again claimed that it was not enough. They want the Alabama Supreme Court decision that human embryos are persons rescinded. From another recent press release:
We are pleased that the legislation passed into law by the Alabama General Assembly will at least allow our members in the state to care for their patients, however it clearly offers only a temporary solution. It fails to correct the underlying mistake the Court made when it conflated an in vitro fertilized egg with a child. //
Democrat lawmakers, under the sway of ASRM, have created a wedge issue. Its goal: to erode Dobbs' impact. ASRM thanked Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) and other Democrat legislators who will have as their SOTU guests "prominent people in the fertility community." This is window dressing and a solid Democrat tactic: Muddy the issue for the purpose of moving abortion back under federal control. Sadly, Republicans continue to play the game instead of educating themselves and going on offense for Life. //

Is a fertilized egg a person, or not. That's the crux of the entire debate. And if not, at what point does it become one? After the first cell division? After some arbitrary amount of time? After the unborn child can feel pain? Only when it's viable outside the womb?
The reason the abortion debate is so fraught is that many tentatively pro-life people aren't completely comfortable with the logical conclusion of their position. That conclusion is that life starts at conception. That a fertilized egg is just as much a "person" as a twenty-week unborn baby or a toddler. If that's true, then an "embryo" removed from the womb and "destroyed" kills a person just as surely as when a "fetus" is.
We need to clearly understand that this is what we're asserting and then stand by it. The solution isn't to allow IVF clinics to remove "embryos" and then "accidentally" destroy them. It's to force abortion proponents to define when they think life starts and then pound them with their position. Because their position is almost always extreme--allowing abortion up until the moment of birth and often encompassing infanticide. Both of which are losers with the general voting population.
